Healthcare Centre / Team work

2016

Inclusive Healthcare Centre, located in Nørresundby (Denmark) is created with an emphasis on social and environmental sustainability. The design is based on users’ inclusivity, with an easy-to-navigate layout, stable daylight and comforting waiting areas, that don’t present barriers for users with special needs.
The garden is accessible to the public. The building opens up towards the garden, to invite the users of the Visitor Centre, or accompanying relatives to spend the waiting time in the shade of the trees in the garden.

The social sustainability incorporated in the shape and footprint of the building aims to invite the public. Users of this area are invited to experience the exterior, park and gardens of the Visitor Centre naturally through engaging shortcuts in frequented public paths, and through publicly accessible facilities. The part of the garden opened to the east invites the public to use the greenhouse and seating with an opportunity to grill. Further away from the building is designed a playground. At a distance, that will not disturb the patient and medical practice, but that will communicate clearly the access for the public and users.
